Newly Consolidated Giffels Westpro Brand Appoints Joel Nauss President

Toronto – March 8, 2011   Victor Smith, President and CEO, Ingenium Group today announced the appointment of Joel Nauss as President of the newly consolidated Giffels Westpro brand. 
The new brand represents the coming together of the expertise and experience of two significant Canadian construction firms. 

Headquartered in Toronto, Giffels has a portfolio of residential, institutional and commercial structures completed under diverse construction delivery methods including projects valued up to 100 million.  Acquired by the Ingenium Group in April of 2010, and headed by Joel Nauss, Westpro specializes in institutional, commercial, infrastructure and heavy civil construction in Western Canada, with a well-earned reputation for ‘getting the tough jobs done well’.

In his new position, Nauss will work closely with the management team to identify new strategic growth opportunities nationally while continuing to work with staff and clients on active projects.  His management team has already commenced the multi-office rollout of unified, sophisticated operating systems, controls, financial infrastructure and management protocols.

A civil engineer by profession, Joel Nauss has more than 30 years of experience with some of the largest construction companies in Canada.  Over his diverse career Joel rose through the ranks from Junior Engineer and Surveyor to President of Westpro Constructors Group Ltd., a reputable firm based in Surrey, BC, which became part of the Ingenium Group of companies in April 2010.

Westpro was established in 1993 as the BC division of a large multi-national construction group and was subsequently acquired by its Joel and his management team.  Under his leadership, Westpro quickly became an innovative and profitable construction company with a strong reputation for on time, on budget completion of challenging public sector projects.

Westpro was winner of the PMI Project of the Year Award in 1995 and winner of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association Project of the Year Award in 1996.  Westpro has successfully completed work for Greater Vancouver Regional District, University of BC, Simon Fraser University, and Vancouver International Airport, as well local municipalities, school boards and similar public owners in the Lower Mainland.  Westpro was a major builder of the Greater Vancouver Rapid Transit System.

Considered a leader in the industry, Joel has represented the construction industry at a former Premier s Roundtable session.  He is a past president of the Independent Contractors and Business Association of BC and has completed 2 terms on the Board of Directors for the Provincial Health Services Authority, a public Health Care institution with an annual budget of over 1 billion.  He served one term as Vice Chair.  He sat on the board of directors of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA), and is past chair of the General Contractors Board at the VRCA.  Joel is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for having made significant contributions to the country and community.

Joel lives in White Rock, BC with his wife of 30 years, Diane.
